Why 2015 Elections’ll Be More Difficult To Conduct By Jega

hairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega has described Insecurity, poor funding and attitude of the political class as the major challenges and threats to the 2015 general elections.
Jega was speaking at the presidential dinner for graduating course 35 participants of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, in Abuja.
Represented by Prof Okey Ibiano, the INEC chairman said, “Three major challenges continue to face us as we approach 2015, and for want of better characterization I name them as insecurity, funding and attitude of political class,” he said.
He noted that several security threats now characterized the electoral process among them physical attacks on INEC staff and facilities, security personnel on election duty, attack on political opponents.
Jega added, “These threats are now exacerbated by insecurity in some parts of the country, making the conduct of elections in those even more difficult”.
