School Principal Where Pupils Sit on Windowsills Suspended

A story on the dearth of good furniture in Ikeja Grammar School, Lagos, revealed last Saturday drew a wrong chord with the Lagos State Government.
lagos-school--360x255Last Monday, it suspended the school principal for allowing this writer to gain access to the school premises and take photographs of classes where pupils sat on windowsills and concrete blocks while learning.
Even though it was reported in the story titled, “Lagos school where pupils learn sitting on windows, concrete blocks” that the principal was not around when this journalist visited the school, it was learnt that her superiors have decided to hang the blame of the scandal on her.
Efforts to speak to the principal as the news of her suspension broke on Monday, were unsuccessful as she was nowhere to be found in the school. Teachers are not allowed to speak with the press in the state.
But an irked teacher, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the principal was removed from her position as a punishment on Monday.
The teacher said, “This is more serious than you think; you have put this school in trouble. The education ‘oga’ (commissioner) and other state officials summoned the principal on Monday and she has been removed from her position.
“She was asked to start reporting to the office of the permanent secretary of the ministry of education as from Tuesday.”
Our correspondent, who paid an undercover visit to the school on Monday, noticed that the issue had put all the teachers in the school on edge as many of them were seen holding copies of the published report.
It was also learnt that the state government’s education top officials had gone a step further by querying a teacher who was teaching a class when photographs of an array of broken furniture the pupils sat on were taken.
Our source within the school said another teacher, a head of department, is also facing the ministry’s ‘fire’ in connection to the said publication. The Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, had last week Friday admitted that her ministry was aware of the issue of the bad furniture in the school.
“Thank you for your observation; we are not unaware. As I write, chairs are being supplied and before too long, it will go round the schools,” a text message from her said on Friday. But by Monday when this correspondent visited the school, no new chairs had been supplied.
This correspondent got in touch with the Lagos State Chairman of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, Mr. Babatunde Philips, to find out if the state of furniture in secondary schools in the state had been a subject of discussion in the conference’s deliberations in the past.
But Phillips said he could not comment on the issue at the time.
“I heard about the suspension of the principal (of Ikeja Grammar School). It makes me very sad that she had to be suspended. But we are planning to make our findings about the issue. I cannot say anything about the issue right now,” he said.
The state government’s action after last Saturday’s publication seems to have become a trend in the way it handles issues relating to its responsibilities.
In August 2013, after a report on the state of an orphanage located beside a house owned by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Orelope Adejoke-Adefulire, operated by Mrs. Rose Nwachukwu, was published the state government closed down the orphanage and arrested the woman even though experts said officials should have monitored the orphanage’s activities in the first place.
When a text message was sent to Oladunjoye on Thursday on the report that the principal was suspended, Oladunjoye replied simply, “Which report is that please? I know a report is already in the public domain.”

HEARTLESS: What Governor Adams Oshiomhole Said to a Poor Widow (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

This can best be described as the most shocking remark ever made by a State Governor to a poor woman. The heart of a man who can say such things, especially in front of a huge crowd and cameras is desperately wicked.
Capture
This video shows Governor Adams Oshiomhole ostensibly leading officials of the state to sanitize the city of Benin, the Edo State capital. In the course of his tour of duty, he came across a widow roadside hawker.
The poor widow knelt before the imperial governor, a former labour leader, begging for her little means of livelihood to be saved. She pleaded that she’s a widow.

But her pleas fell on the governor’s deaf ear. In what could be regarded as the most unkind cut of all, the governor said the widowed woman should “go and die”!
Afterwards he stood for some seconds looking indifferently on how the officials took the women’s belongings away, and he left the scene of the drama.

Labour MP Jim Murphy was at the scene and reports multiple injuries.
He would later tell the BBC:
It’s a well established Glasgow pub. It’s a horrible, horrible scene, but well done to the folk who were here. Everyone formed a chain of people from inside the pub to outside, and the fire brigade and everyone were here very quickly.

ABU ASUU Chair: “President Has No Power To Sack Us… But We’re Waiting For HIS Dismissal”

Even the President cannot relieve university lecturers of their duties, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria chapter, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Aliyu, said yesterday.
ahmadu_bello_uni_zariaNo minister, and even no the President, hold the power to hire or fire, Mr. Aliyu said.
“Nobody can tell us to go back to work.
“If they think they can get other lecturers, let them go and get them.
“We are not going back and we are ready to be dismissed by the minister. But even the President cannot sack us. Even the President has no place in the university when it comes to employment issues.
“During the military era, General Babangida tried what this man [Goodluck Jonathan] is saying, but did not succeed. And let us see how they would succeed.
“Tell them to do the right thing, but if they feel that they can threaten us, let them go ahead and see where it will take them,” Dr. Aliyu said.
Lecturers of the university were unanimous in condemning the statement credited to the minister for education, Mr. Nyemson Wike, that university lecturers who refused to return to work on or before December 4 would be sacked.
“It is unfortunate that these are the types of people we have as leaders. The welfare of the citizens is not their business. Because they learnt that we have voted for an end to the strike they thought that they can intimidate us,” Dr. Aliyu added.
“I was one of those that voted for an end to the strike, but I would not obey the directive, and let us see what would happen. They have starved us for over four months, and now they are threatening us. We are waiting for their dismissal,” he concluded.

18-Yr-Old Girl Sentenced Six-Hours Jail Term For Killing Her defiler Father

A court in Uganda sentenced a teen age girl to a six-hour jail term for killing her defiler father.
masaka_pix
It was probably one of the most unusual sentences delivered in the country, but the case was just as unusual as it was heartrending.
The Masaka High Court presided over by Lady Justice Margaret Oumo Oguli, Monday heard that 18-year-old girl killed her father on May 8, after he had defiled her.
It was not the first time he was doing so. The 58-year-old man had been defiling the daughter repeatedly from the time she was 13 years old.
Prosecution led by Peter Mugisha told court that the convict violently killed her father using a knife and a panga after the deceased performed s*xual acts against her.
Mr Mugisha, however, asked court to give her a maximum sentence which requires death, saying the act she performed was illegal.
A lenient sentence
His argument was that she should have reported the matter to police and not killed him.
Defence led by Mr Edward Kikirengoma, however, did not agree with the State, saying the act the father did to his daughter was condemned, especially in Buganda Kingdom.
Mr Kikirengoma told court that the convict needed to take charge of her life since she had become tired of her father’s cruel acts, adding that court should look into the condition of the girl as she was six months pregnant, with the child of her father.
“….. revealed that as she was sleeping in the house, she did not know that her mother, 56, had gone out; her father learnt that his wife wasn’t in the house and came into her bed and defiled her. Since they were living in a one-room rented house, the father took advantage of his own children,” Mr Kikirengoma said.
It emerged that the man had also impregnated his three other daughters. Defence therefore asked court to give the killer a lenient sentence.

SPECTACULAR: Longest Bridge in Asia Destroyed By Massive Fire (PHOTOS)

The longest covered bridge in Asia has been destroyed after a fire roared through the wooden structure last night.
The Feng Yu Covered Bridge, in Chongqing, China, is known throughout the Far East for its traditional beauty topped by a pagoda-style roof that stretched 303 metres across the region’s Apeng River.
But last night the five-metre-wide crossing, first built in 1591, collapsed into the waters as the blaze turned it to ashes.
article-2515693-19b6ba1d00000578-991_634x381
Firefighters battled through the night in a bid to quell the flames, but by the time they got them under control it was too late.
By morning all that was left were its row of charred stone bases surrounded by blackened driftwood floating in the waters.
article-2515693-19b6b9fb00000578-66_634x392
Authorities have now launched an investigation into what caused the fire.
First built in 1591 and also known as the ‘Luck Bridge’ and ‘Flower Bridge,’ it was constructed entirely of wood without any nails.
Destroyed and re-built several times over the centuries – most recently in 1999 when its wooden base was replaced by stone – it has always been the transportation fortress of Hunan-Guizhou highroad as well as a busy place with merchants and tourists.
The bridge has been likened to a dragon and it contains both intricate architectural features as well as artistic carvings.

Does man-hood Size Matter? Guy Made Documentary After His Girlfriend Dumped Him, Finds The Answer

Most women, when they do the dumping, tend to opt for bland yet inoffensive explanations such as “I’m not the right place at the moment” or “I’d like us to be friends”.
One woman’s decision to be brutally honest about why she was dumping 30-year-old comedian and actor Patrick Moote – “Your man-hood is too small – resulted in him making a documentary about man-hood size.
UnHung Hero is a documentary or ‘cockumentary’ as Moote calls it, where he tries to go around the world to find out how other cultures view man-hood size and asks his ex-girlfriends about whether it mattered when they were together.
There are some rather shocked-looking people on the street who are asked for their opinion, and a fairly hairy moment when he visits a group of men for options to make his man-hood bigger and is confronted with a rather scary needle containing the fluid that will ‘pump’ it up.
“Who’s going to be with me after this documentary airs?” Moote wails, but beneath the wry, funny look at man-hood size is a real question waiting to be answered. Some answer it predictably “People who say man-hood size doesn’t matter doesn’t have a big man-hood,” says one brash man, while another lady tries to explain: “It’s like opening a gift and sometimes you have to pretend that the gift is amazing, when it isn’t.”

Fallout Of Anambra Guber Poll: Jega-Led INEC Can’t Conduct Credible 2014 Poll In Osun, Ekiti – Aregbesola

overnor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and the All Progressives Congress in the state have passed a vote-of-no confidence in the Prof. Attahiru Jega–led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible polls in Osun and Ekiti States next year going by the ‘inconclusive’ governorship election in Anambra State.
The party also accused the Federal Government and the INEC of planning to rig the governorship elections to be held in the two Southwest states in 2014.
The governor made this known when he led chieftains and supporters of the party from the Freedom Park in Osogbo, the state capital on Thursday as they marched through major streets in the town to the INEC office where they dropped their protest letter.
Gov. Aregbesola and the state chairman of APC, Adelowo Adebiyi, said that Jega could not be trusted to conduct subsequent elections in the country since he had failed woefully to conduct a credible poll in just one state.
Aregbesola said, “It is significantly illogical for Jega’s INEC to argue that the magnitude of the infractions at the last election in Anambra was not sufficient to cancel the election outright.
“We cannot trust a body with such illogical thinking to do a good job of the next election especially because even the basis of that process – which is the voters register – had been mysteriously mutilated so massively that a considerable number of voters could not find their names on a register that had contained their names at the verification process”.
Speaking in the same vein, Adebiyi said that Jega by the outcome of the Anambra poll had demonstrated gross incompetence to conduct credible elections.
He said that “the shameful conduct” of the INEC in the inconclusive Anambra State governorship election was a pointer to what to be expected from the electoral umpire in coming governorship polls in Ekiti and Osun States.
The chairman, therefore, called on the National Assembly to dissolve INEC and put in place a new electoral body with new leadership to conduct a fresh poll in Anambra State which holds a supplementary election in the state today.

SHOCK OF LIFE: Ex-footballer Discovers 3 Children With Wife Of 20-Years Are Not His

After over 20 years of marriage, former Ghana International footballer, Nii Ordartey Lamptey, has just shockingly discovered that all 3 children he has fathered all these years with his wife are not his biological children.
The footballer made this shocking revelation during an interview on radio when he was asked why he and his wife were getting divorced.
“I thought they were my children but upon a DNA test, I got to know that they are not my biological children. The issue is in court so I’m pleading, because it is a legal issue I don’t want to go through so many things, but I am 100% sure that the children are not mine after 20-years of marriage. We had five children but two passed away so we were left with only 3 and they are not mine,“ Odartey said.
According to report, his wife known as Gloria Lamptey (pictured below) is claiming her husband, Odartey is infertile and he was the one who suggested they use artificial insemination. A claim Lamptey denies.

However, a source close to the former footballer said he’d on several occasions caught his wife cheating on him but stayed with her because of his love for her and the businesses they own together.
The estranged couple are now in court.
During Nii Odartey Lamptey’s career, he played as a striker from 1990 until 2008 notably for Aston Villa, PSV Eindhoven, Coventry City and the Ghana national football team.

21 Women Sent To Jail For Holding Peaceful Protests To Get Pardon

Following protests over the sentence of 21 women and girls who were sent to 11 years in prison for engaging in a peaceful protest, the presidential office has said Egypt’s interim president will issue a full pardon to the group. The convicted protesters, who are supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, received the harsh sentences for forming a human chain and passing out flyers in the city of Alexandria. The youngest member of the group is 15-years-old. “President Adly Mansour will issue a full pardon to the Alexandria females after the final judicial process is completed in accord to the constitution,” a presidential advisor said in a statement circulated to journalists on Friday. The legal process will still go through the appeal and cessation court processes, the statement added. Images from the Alexandria courtroom where they were sentenced on Wednesday showed the group, wearing white headscarves and prison uniforms, handcuffed in the defendants’ cage, provoking fury in many Egyptians. A demonstration against the sentencing turned violent on Thursday and one student was killed in clashes with police outside Cairo University. Human rights organisations had heavily critcised the ruling, saying it marked a tougher resolve by the military-backed government to stifle dissent. The government had earlier this week passed a law that restricts demonstrations. But hundreds of Egyptians defied the ban on Friday by taking to the streets in cities across the country.

ASUU STRIKE: ‘The Minister Wants To Start A Fight He Cannot Finish’ – UNN ASUU

The Chairman of ASUU at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Dr Ifeanyichukwu Abada, on Thursday said that the lecturers were not bothered by the federal government’s one week ultimatum to return to class which it issued yesterday. university_of_nigeria_nsukkaSpeaking with journalist yesterday in Nsukka, Abada said the union has no business with the minister who issued the order but with President Jonathan, adding that the order cannot work. “It is unfortunate that the minister thinks that he can use his office to threaten lecturers. The December 4 ultimatum to lecturers to resume work or risk being sacked cannot work,’’ Abada said. According to Abada, the minister was issuing a ‘military order’ rather than seek ways of settling things amicably with the lecturers. Also reacting to the ultimatum, the immediate past chairman of the branch, Prof. Aloysius Okolie, described the ultimatum as unfortunate and an act of over-zealousness. “Let the minister go ahead and sack all the lecturers in the country if he has such powers. “The minister wants to start a fight he cannot finish,” said Okolie, who is also a senior lecturer in the department of political science. He said it was against labour laws for the government to use the instrument of starvation on striking workers by invoking no-work, no-pay policy.

Tiwa Savage Makes A BIG Mistake

Sexy singer, Tiwa Savage, who finally released her debut album, Once Upon A Time, quite recently, has made a goof that she can be forgiven for.
tiwa_savage_-_simply_samad
The Eminado singer was the celebrity guest on Kennis Music Channel’s My Top 10 Countdown recently and she acquitted herself faultlessly in disclosing her top ten music videos and the reasons why she chose them.
A professional to the core, she didn’t use the giltedged opportunity to basically promote her own videos and those of her Mavin Records labelmates, which is what Sound Sultan did during his own spot on the same programme recently where he also disclosed that he was the one who wrote Sho Le and not Sean Tizzle. As a matter of fact, she didn’t choose the videos of any of her Mavin mates, Wande Coal, D’Prince and Dr Sid.
Still, it was expected that she would include her own videos in the countdown and she elected to position her Without My Heart video featuring Don Jazzy at number four. Her goof however came when she was introducing her number one video, which was one of her videos of course, her latest, Olorun Mi.
Explaining the reason it was her top choice video, she said that a lot of beautiful people died last year, including her beautiful sister, Goldie, Justus Esiri, the Aluu 4, the Dana crash and so many others that she can’t name. Goldie died this year, though, on Valentine’s Day in February, and Justus Esiri also died this year shortly after her in the same month. Definitely a mistake on Savage’s part.

7 Reasons Your Periods Might Get Delayed Aside Pregnancy

images (16)Here are the seven most likely reasons your period might be late besides pregnancy …
1. A Change In Your Regular Routine: Did you start a new job? Change your wakeup time? Go on vacation? It can take your body a little time to adjust to a change in your regular routine and that can impact your regular cycle, especially if the change started at the time you would normally ovulate, causing a delay or even a skipped cycle.
2. Stress: Your emotions, particularly stress, can have a major impact on the regularity of your menstrual cycle. And if you’re stressing about why your period is late, that could actually delay its arrival even more. Mother Nature is a cruel mistress!
3. Illness: Being sick at the time you normally would ovulate can delay ovulation — and if you ovulate late, you’ll get your period late. So if your period hasn’t arrived on schedule, think back a few weeks — were you under the weather?
4. Pill Poppin’: Taking a new medication or changing the dosage on an existing medication can affect all aspects of your body’s well-being, including your menstrual cycle — that’s why your doctor, including your gynecologist, always wants to know each and every medication that you’re on.
5. Weight Issues: A major change in your weight — either by gaining a lot or losing a lot of weight — can throw your ovulation cycle off. People who are underweight or extremely overweight sometimes don’t have a period at all — which is not very healthy. Overall, an incredibly wonky or nonexistent period is a sign of possible health issues.
6. Exercising Excessively: Have you been hitting Soul Cycle every day after work? Training for a marathon? If you’ve taken up a new and intense exercise routine, your period might be thrown off. In fact, people who engage in extreme physical activity sometimes see their periods delayed.
7. Miscalculation: The average menstrual cycle is 28 days, but many, many women have shorter or longer cycles and don’t chart them correctly — so it may be that your period is not actually late. Additionally, the majority of women have cycles that are irregular and don’t necessarily realize it. If your period is early even by a few days one month, it may arrive late the following month.

PHOTO: Goat Allegedly Delivers Human-Like Baby In Ekiti

The sleepy town of Ogotun-Ekiti in Ekiti SouthWest Local Government Area of Ekiti State was on Tuesday thrown into confusion when information filtered that a goat had delivered a human-like baby goat.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the incident, which occurred in Lori Oke settlement, a village that is about 10 kilometres from Ogotun Town, drew the attention of hundreds of residents and travellers.
The spokesperson of the community, Sunday Ogunmeji, who spoke with a correspondent on behalf of the Baale (community head), Ganiyu Adetoun, said a pastor, Daniel Odedele, helped to deliver the goat of the baby.
“After watching the goat labour for several hours, the pastor took pity on it and courageously pulled the baby out, only for it to turn out to be human-like.
“The ‘baby’ had all the features of a human being such as human face, head, hair, female private parts, two legs and two arms with hoofs.
“However, the human-like baby died at about noon as a result of lack of care as the crowd merely trooped there to watch rather than to attempt to save its life,” Mr. Ogunmeji said.
A resident, Saidi Oladepo, who is a commercial motorcycle (Okada) operator, said that immediately the goat delivered the ‘human-like baby’, it took to its heels.
He said that as soon as members of the community got wind of the incident, they ran helter-skelter in apparent confusion. He said alarm was raised and the local security agents, referred to as `Peace Corps’, were alerted to the incident.
Mr. Oladepo added that it took more than two hours to re-capture the goat in the bush.
The traditional ruler of Ogotun-Ekiti, Samuel Oyebode, could not be reached for comment as he was said to be in a meeting of the Traditional Council.

Women Can Now Lockup Their Men’s ‘man-hood’ In Willy Jail With Padlocks.

Hehehehehehe…..Men are in serious trouble! In case you are yet to fathom the image in the pictures, it’s ehmm p*nis jail. lol! The device serves/help women in padlocking their husbands/boyfriends organs. It’s called ‘Male Chastity’ and it gives the keyholder absolute control over the joystick.
Here is how it’s been advertised:
“Male chastity devices restrict a man from touching his génitals for séxual pleasure. The male chastity device gives the keyholder control over the séxual fulfillment of both partners by denying the wearer the touch he has had all of his life.
His focus is now on when he can experience s*xual gratification, and the keyholder has complete control over the wearer’s pleasure.
This denied access means the wearer must please the keyholder in order to receive the pleasure he craves.”
Although, it’s harsh but i hear it’s very effective and comes in different sizes. lolllzzz. You can get the willy jail at CB-X.com for $150. Except the men that like kinky stuff, i’m sure no normal man who can’t control his willy will agree to this. lol. See Gombe! No more excuse!!!!!!!! lmao

BREAKING: ASUU May Suspend Strike Within 24 Hours

The Union, however, described the statement credited to Supervising Minister and Minister of Education, Barr Nyesom Wike, that ASUU was making new outrageous demands as “untrue and absolute lie”.
asuu-fg-meeting5ASUU’s position was made known by the National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu, in an interview with The Nation in Ibadan on Wednesday.
The Union said it asked Jonathan to facilitate the endorsement of resolutions reached with him and signed by high ranking government official preferably the Attorney-General of the Federation but not a Permanent Secretary.
ASUU said their representative of the body, including the President of Nigeria Labour Congress,Abdulwahid Omar, would stand as witnesses.
Aremu also said the striking lecturers wanted the N200 billion agreed upon as 2013 revitalisation fund for public universities to be warehoused with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and disbursed to the benefiting universities.
He noted that ASUU appreciated the intervention of the President, but then added that some of the resolutions reached with Jonathan were not included in the letter sent to the Union.
According to him, the supervising Minister of Education forgot to mention that apart from the N30 billion earned allowances released for university staff, the FG was yet to release N100 billion claimed to have been released.

their conditions. These are the payment of four months salaries, which accumulated during the period of the strike; immediate implementation of the N1.2 trillion offered by the FG to public universities, starting with the release of N100 billion this year; and the balance of N1.1 trillion to be spread over five years from 2014. The union also demanded that the salary arrears must not be paid in piecemeal. READ MORE: http://news.naij.com/52905.html
It will be recalled that President Jonathan met with the ASUU on November 4. The marathon-like meeting lasted for 13 hours but did not put an end to the Union’s industrial action.
The Union has embarked on an indefinite strike on July 1, 2013, protesting against an alleged FG’s failure to honor an agreement signed between the FG and ASUU in 2009. Part of the agreement dwelt on funding of universities where both parties agreed that each federal university should get at least N1.5 trillion between 2009 and 2011 while state universities, within the same period, should receive N3.6 million per student.

BET GONE WRONG: Man Drowns While Swimming To Win Bet

A 25-year-old man, Toheeb Jimoh, has drowned in a Lagos river while reportedly swimming to win a bet.

Capture
He had allegedly bragged that he could swim the Lagos Lagoon from a particular point to the shore on Saturday evening.
It was learnt that when some people challenged his claim, he had allegedly dared them to place a bet. After the bet was placed, he reportedly went on a boat to the point and jumped into the lagoon hoping to swim to the shore.
Friends of the deceased, who had accompanied him on a boat, were said to have fled the scene after he did not make it out of the water.
The incident, which occurred at Aiyedun Street, Bariga, was said to have caused commotion among residents who trooped to the site, hoping to save Jimoh.
The corpse of Jimoh was said to have been recovered around 7pm same day and buried beside the water around 12am in line with the traditions.
Our correspondent learnt that the late Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, had only recently gained admission into the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta before the tragedy struck.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “He and some of his friends were actually fond of betting and gambling. So that evening, they decided to take the betting to another level. Toheeb told them he could swim from the Third Mainland Bridge end of the river to the shore.
“When the boat they took got to that point, which was a little close to the shore, he gave his clothes to his brother and jumped into the water.
“His friends who were in the boat waited for him at the shore without success. After it dawned on them that something was amiss, his younger brother raised the alarm. By the time people got to the scene, he had died.”
When PUNCH Metro visited the site where the incident took place, it was observed that the scene was directly under the Third Mainland Bridge.
Leaves, pure water sachets, and other dirt were seen floating on the river shore. The area was mainly occupied by shanties and make-shift structures.
Residents of the area refused to comment for fear of being implicated.
When our correspondent visited the Jimohs on Ajenifuja Street, he was told they had traveled to complete the burial rites. Their bungalow was also quiet, while the street was deserted.
A resident on the street, Tiamiyu Abdullateef, said the deceased was highly pious.
He said Jimoh had earlier gone on a boat to “play a game with his friends”, and returned without any incident.
Abdullateef, however, said the deceased merely went to the lagoon to defecate after he became pressed.
“Then, he decided to swim and wash his body. His brother, Wale, waited at the shore. When he was swimming back, he just lost breath, and was exhausted. His brother saw him drowning but did not suspect that anything was wrong until it was too late.”
When our correspondent visited Bariga Police Station, a senior official told him that the police heard about the case informally.
The officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak for the police, said, “It was not reported here, and there is little we can do although we heard of it,”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said she was in a conference and promised to call back.

Women Now Can Check for Partner’s Violent Past

Women in England and Wales will be able to check police records to see if their partner has a history of domestic violence, the government said on Monday.
Capture
The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Resolution 54/134).
The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to r*pe, domestic violence and other forms of violence.
Furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden.
The “Clare’s Law” scheme — named after 36-year-old Clare Wood who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2009 — is expected to come into force in March following a year-long pilot in several parts of Britain.
Wood, a mother-of-one, had met George Appleton on Facebook and was unaware of his history of violence against women, including the kidnapping of another girlfriend at knifepoint.
He strangled Wood and set her body on fire before hanging himself.
Women Now Can Check for Partner’s Violent Past
Home Secretary Theresa May said 88 British women had been killed by a violent partner or ex-partner last year, and that there was “considerable confusion” about whether police could share information on someone’s violent past with the public.
“Domestic abuse shatters lives — Clare’s Law provides people with the information they need to escape an abusive situation before it ends in tragedy,” she told The Sun newspaper.
“The national scheme will ensure that more people can make informed decisions about their relationship and escape if necessary.
“This is an important step towards ensuring we do better by women like Clare Wood in the future.”
Some 400 women applied for information about their partners or ex-partners under the pilot scheme, with police providing details in around 100 of these cases, the Home Office, or interior ministry said.

Why The Church Is Called Deeper Life PLUS The Real Meaning Of My Name & Why I Changed It – Pastor W.F Kumuyi

The founder and the General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Dr W.F Kumuyi in an interview with Elife talks about his Christian Faith, why his church was named Deeper Life and the real meaning of his name.

kumuyi
Pastor Kumuyi narrated why he changed his original name Ikumuyiwa meaning “death brought this” to Kumuyi.
Excerpts:
African names have meanings. What does Kumuyi mean?
The full name is Ikumuyiwa, which means ‘death brought this”. After I became a Christian, I realised it was the death of Christ that has brought us salvation, and also the redemption and reconciliation we have with God. So, for me, the name, Ikumuyiwa, is very significant – death has brought something good. The death of Christ has brought us the grace and goodness of God, and the relationship we have now with the Lord.
How many siblings do you have?
I have two siblings – a sister who is three years younger than I am, and a brother who is far much younger, 18 or 19 years younger than I am. Both of them are in Nigeria . My sister lives in Ondo State . A born-again Christian, she attends Deeper Life. My brother lives in Osun State, and he is also in the Church. Both of them are following the Lord.
You left the Anglican Church for the Apostolic Church. What made you switch?
I was teaching in Mayflower School, my alma mater. I completed my secondary school education in 1961, and started teaching mathematics at Mayflower in 1962. It was there that I was introduced to the Apostolic Faith, not Apostolic Church, and really heard about the change that Christ could make to our lives when we turned from our sins and believed in him and how he died for us on the cross of Calvary. It was there that I had the salvation experience and things really turned up for me.
You became a born-again Christian at the age of 23, on 5th April 1964. Do you still remember what happened?
Yes, a preacher was preaching a simple message, and because I had become almost like a moralist in the sense that I protected my name and personality, when that preacher preached, I saw that it was not just our actions that made us unacceptable to God, even our wrong thoughts and wrong plans or planning our lives as if God didn’t exist, also made us unacceptable. I then realised that I needed God. And when the preacher made an altar call, he pointedly said if “anybody needed Christ to fill the void in their lives, such people should come forward”, I felt drawn to what he was saying. I went forward, knelt down and prayed.
In fact, it was such an important day for me that I still remember it to this day, even where I knelt, how it all happened, and the peace and joy that came to my heart, that now I was reconciled with God through Jesus Christ. It was very definite.
Was it in Lagos ?
No, it was in Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State , about one-and-a half hours drive from Lagos.
Why did you call it Deeper Life?
Actually it came from the people. When they received the articles, they came to the Bible studies and said: “We’ve been Christians before, but this one is deeper than what we used to know.” So they used the name Deeper Life. We also knew that we were leading them to deeper relations with God; that is how those articles became Deeper Christian Life Articles. Then as we continued with the Bible studies, the group became known as the Deeper Christian Life Ministry. And when it became a Church in 1983, we called it the Deeper Life Bible Church.
Are you saying the name, Deeper Life, didn’t come from you?
Well, yes and no. We called the articles we sent out “Deeper Life Articles”. The people themselves were saying those articles were deepening their Christian lives. So the name came from both sides.

[Advice Needed] She Does Not Want Me To Associate With Friends….. Please Help!!!

I have been dating this particular girl for the past four years and when we started it was a very good relationship and after 3 months of our courtship both our parents got to know and they were happy…but suddenly she started complaining about everything I do…she said I drink, I keep friends and most time she sees me as a stupid person. Now, she is going for a three year course in another state…I don’t know what to do…though I love her but I don’t wanna stop her dreams from coming true. But, with the nature of what I do, there is no way I won’t associate my life with other people…and we nearly fight everyday over issues that doesn’t make sense..and to my surprise my mom don’t really like her again cos she sees her as a pompous person and she thinks she may take advantage of me if we eventually get married. Please advise…
FL
Dear FL,
I think you both should sit down and discuss what you really want… Do you guys still want the relationship? Do you love each other? Do you want to make it work? There and many other questions are what you should ask yourselves… If you still want the relationship, then you two should give up doing things that the other person does not appreciate….I am not saying you should leave you friends for her or you should stop her from pursuing her dreams…i am only saying that you two should give up unhealthy behaviors to really make it work.
Wish you well,

UNBELIEVABLE PHOTOS: SEE Pastor Who Worships And Preaches With The Use Of Deadly Snakes

A snake handling preacher has vowed to continue worshipping with deadly rattlesnakes despite the threat of jail – and being bitten four times.
Andrew Hamblin, 22, is a pastor at the Tabernacle Church of God in the Appalachian mountains outside La Follette, Tennessee.
The church is part of century-old Pentecostal tradition in the region that takes literally an instruction in the Gospel of Mark that ‘they shall take up serpents.’
But the defiant preacher faces up to a year in prison after being charged with illegally possessing 53 venomous snakes seized from his church by Tennessee wildlife agency officers earlier this month.
Under the laws of the state anyone owning venomous snakes, even zoos and circuses, must apply for permits and comply with specific requirements to guarantee public safety.
His devotion has left him crippled as he is unable to make a fist following a snakebite on the knuckle which almost killed him in 2010.
‘I was at death’s door,’ he said. ‘Me and death were just about ready to smoke a cigarette together.’
He believes his recovery is a direct result of God’s will and cites another serious bite – this time to the neck – sustained soon after as proof that he is protected from harm by his faith.
The incident left his shirt soaked in blood but he says he escaped serious injury adding: ‘I never swelled, I never itched, I never suffered nothing but bleeding.’

And despite the physical threat and appearing in court Mr Hamblin has continued worship with the huge rattlesnakes thrust above his head after his followers helped smuggle in new creatures after the previous batch were confiscated.
They claim that they are victims of a state crackdown after another preach Jamie Coots had two copperheads confiscated after being stopped while driving home through Tennessee earlier this year.
During the raucous services, worshippers dance, bang tambourines, speak in tongues and handle the 3ft long animals believing that they are protected from danger by God.
Speaking to the Telegraph he said: ‘I’m willing to fight this, because here in the United States we’re supposed to be guaranteed our religious freedom under the first amendment of the constitution.
‘We’re Christians who believe in being saved by the blood of Jesus Christ just like any other – it’s not like we’re part of some different religion. I do feel it is an attack upon our religious freedom.’
Mr Hamblin said he was called on by God to handle the creatures, and that their appearances were shows of divine power. He has also likened the practice to ‘Catholics using wine.’
However these claims have been dismissed by authorities who maintain that the practices constiture a serious ‘public safety hazard.’
hamblinsnake3
Matthew Cameron, a wildlife agency spokesman said: ‘We treat him just as we would anyone else found to be storing venomous snakes in their home.
The presence of children at the services, including Mr Hamblin’s own five, only adds to safety concerns but Mr Hamblin maintains that only over 18s ever handle the reptiles.
He added: ‘I can understand not wanting to endanger another’s life. That’s perfectly understandable. But in 100 years, there have been only 10 deaths in Tennessee from serpents.’
Despite this a number of pastors in recent years have met their demise because of their unorthodox methods of worship.
Mack Wolford of West Virginia, who led one of the best-attended snake-handling churches out of an estimated 125 in the region, was killed by a timber rattlesnake in May last year.
His own father, also a snake-handling preacher also died from a rattlesnake bit in the 1980s.
But while dozens of his fellow pastors hold their services in secret and close their doors to outsiders, Mr Hamblin is determined to bring his sect into the mainstream and hopes to found America’s first snake-handling mega-church.
He is due back in court next month, and may face additional charges but refuses to stop the snakes, whatever the consequences.
